Baghdad explosions targeting Shiite mosques kill 20

At least 20 people killed and 56 injured on Friday in a series of explosions targeting Shiite mosques, police source said.

Local police source, on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that four separate bombings occurred after Shiite worshippers just finished their Friday prayers in local mosques. The latest blast happened near a Shiite mosque in the Diyala district southeast of Baghdad, killing four and wounding 17 others.

Preciously, three separate explosions struck Shiite mosques across Baghdad.

The first blast happened in the district of Shaab, northeast of Baghdad, killing 15 and wounding 30 more. Another explosion happened in the Zafaryneh district, South of Baghdad, where one was killed and six injured. There were three more injured in an explosion targeting a Shiite mosque in the Kamleh district in east Baghdad.

Police source initially put the number of casualties in the bombing in Shaab at seven killed and 20 wounded.
