A senior official with the Communist Party of China (CPC) vowed on Wednesday to further promote the partnership between China and Vietnam.

Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) officials.

It is the strategic choice of both countries to cherish the traditional bilateral friendship and deepen cooperation and mutual trust, he said.

During the nearly-two-hour meeting, Li, also member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee said the bilateral ties have become closer in recent years, as both sides seek long-term, comprehensive and good-neighborly relations.

The delegation, which arrived for the visit on Aug. 9, is led by Mai The Trung, member of the CPV Central Committee.

Trung expressed belief that the Vietnam-China relations will develop further under the guidance of building a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership agreed by top leaders of the countries.
