Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya arrived on Thursday in Chile to meet with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet in La Moneda Palace.

In a briefing to the press, Bachelet said that she invited Zelaya to visit the country in order to reject the Honduran interim government leaded by post-coup leader Roberto Micheletti.

Zelaya said that the Chilean government was one of the first condemning his ousting and disavowing the coup authorities in Honduras, because Chile "has known the dictatorships."

Chilean Foreign Minister Mariano Fernandez said on Wednesday that Zelaya was invited in the frame of Chile's decision of promoting the restoration of democracy in Honduras and the return of Zelaya to power, as he is the elected constitutional president from that country.

The presidents from the Chilean political parties, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, as well as the directors of foreign affairs from the Chilean National Congress also attended the meeting in La Moneda Palace.

In the last few days, Zelaya has launched a strong diplomatic onfall, including visits to the United States, Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil.
