Adjust font size:

Serbian President Boris Tadic arrived in Beijing early Wednesday for a week-long state visit, the first official visit by a Serbian head of state since it announced independence in 2006.

As guest of his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, Tadic will meet Chinese leaders, including President Hu, Premier Wen Jiabao and top legislator Wu Bangguo.

He will also visit Shaanxi Province which hosts the Emperor QinShihuang's Mausoleum and the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses in northwest China and the economic hub of Shanghai in east China.

Tadic is scheduled to attend investment forums in Beijing and Shanghai in a bid to boost economic and trade ties between the Balkan state and China.

China-Serbia trade reached 125 million US dollars in the first five months of this year, down 33.1 percent year on year amid the global downturn.
