Afghan reporter gunned down at Pak-Afghan highway

An Afghan reporter working for foreign television was shot dead at Pak-Afghan Highway in northwest Pakistan Monday, local TV channel reported.

According to the private TV GEO News, Afghan reporter Janullah Hashim who was working for several Afghan and foreign news organizations, was on his way to Peshawar, the capital city of North West Frontier Province, when unknown gunmen killed him in Tehsil Jamrud of Khyber Tribal Agency, near Afghan border.

Hashim died on the spot. His body has been shifted to Jamrud hospital.

The gunmen fled and no one claimed responsibility for the killing.

Hashim was working for Afghan news agency Pajhwak, CNN, APTN and Al-Arabia television.
