Japan to call special Diet session on Sept. 16

A special session of the Japanese parliament is expected to be called on Sept. 16 for electing the new prime minister, Kyodo News reported Tuesday, quoting a high- ranking government official.

Democratic Party of Japan President Yukio Hatoyama is certain to be picked as prime minister following his party's overwhelming victory in Sunday's House of Representatives election.
