China will always perceive its relations with Singapore from a strategic height and work with Singapore to push bilateral links to higher levels, Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said in Beijing on Wednesday.

Li told visiting Singaporean Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong that China-Singapore relations have been growing smoothly under the care and support of leaders from both countries.

Li said the two countries enjoy a high degree of mutual trust in the political area and win-win cooperation in the economic field. He added that the two countries have maintained close coordination on regional and international affairs and achieved rich results in cooperation in various fields.

Li met with Goh in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Wednesday afternoon.

The two sides exchanged views on the situation of the world economy. Li said the world economy now shows signs of positive changes, but recovery will be a slow and fluctuating process.

He called for all countries to further strengthen cooperation and coordinate policies to jointly consolidate and expand the positive results and promote recovery and healthy growth of the world economy.

Goh said Singapore places great importance on relations with China. He expressed the willingness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation so as to realize common development.

Goh spoke highly of the effort China has made to address the international financial crisis.
