Adjust font size:

South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan will travel to Shanghai to meet with his counterparts of China and Japan at an one-day annual trilateral meeting, the foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

Yu will meet his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi and Japan's newly named Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada at the third annual trilateral ministerial meeting in Shanghai on Monday, the ministry said.

The ministers will mainly discuss details for an upcoming summit of the three nations' leaders, which is expected to be held in early October in China.

The three-way ministerial talks were launched in 2007. The first meeting was held in Jeju, South Korea, and the second took place in Tokyo in 2008.

After the meeting, the South Korea's top diplomats will also travel to Japan on Tuesday for separate talks with Okada and other officials of the country's new cabinet during a two-day trip, the ministry said.
