In a simple handover ceremony, Director General of Meteorology Department G.H.P. Dharmaratne told Chinese Ambassador Sun Guoxiangthat Sri Lanka would make best use of the equipment.

Dharmaratne said he hoped that the two countries will further strengthen their exchange and cooperation in the area of meteorology.

The equipment donated by China is composed of temperature-humidity sensor, rainfall sensor and battery cabinet, among others.

Sri Lanka's meteorological observations dated back to 1850. Nowit's observation network consists of 64 meteorological stations all over the island.
