Adjust font size:

Officials from China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Tuesday met in Shanghai to discuss how to step up maritime cooperation.

The three-day meeting reviewed the cooperation between China and the ASEAN in maritime affairs in 2006. The officials will also discuss the issues relating to sailing safety, maritime emergency response and others.

The meeting was the second of its kind under the mechanism of China-ASEAN maritime affairs consultation, initiated in October 2003.

The first meeting was held in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
