"Beijing Welcomes You" Photo Exhibition was inaugurated in Dhaka on Monday with the purpose to make more Bangladeshis know about China as well as Olympics.

The exhibition is co-sponsored by Chinese embassy in Bangladesh and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, a national art academy.

Bangladeshi caretaker government Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Mahbul Jamil said at the inauguration ceremony the Beijing Olympics to be held this year is a big event not only for China, but for Asia as well.

Jamil, who is in charge of Youth and Sports Ministry (status as minister), said, "As a part of Asia, we feel proud."

Jamil wished the Beijing Olympics be successful and he also hoped the photo exhibition can make more Bangladeshis know about China and about the Beijing Olympics.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zheng Qingdian said at the ceremony the exhibition not only shows China's preparation for the Olympics but also shows China's traditional and modern culture.

Jamil told Xinhua after seeing the exhibition he was deeply impressed by the photos. "They are extraordinary good," he said.

Over 100 people came to the ceremony. The exhibition will last for 10 days.
