"High-speed railway can't sustain itself here," Zhong said, adding that the high prices of high-railway in China have already brought complaints by the public. Zhong said China should beware of feelings of superiority, and he urged all Chinese companies that wish to make investments in Africa to have solid and feasible business plans over the long haul, so as to make the projects sustain themselves once built.

Although China has gone through a successful period of economic boom over the past 30 years, Zhong said China should avoid rigid implementation of its own development patterns on African nations.

"Our aid, projects and investments in Africa are supposed to boost its own economy," he said, "otherwise, it is colonization."
