Adjust font size:

Jordan's King Abdullah II on Wednesday held talks with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani who just finished a two-week medical treatment at Al Hussein Medical Center in Amman, the official Petra news agency reported.

The king said that Iraq had to restore stability in order to play its vital role in the region.

He called for support for efforts to achieve national reconciliation in Iraq and ensure participation of all the parties of the Iraqi society in the political process.

Talabani, for his part, expressed thanks to the king and medical staff for their efforts to give him "distinguished medical treatment."

He also reviewed efforts to stabilize Iraq, including an international conference held in Baghdad last Saturday aimed at seeking ways to quell violence in the war-torn country.

The two leaders also discussed an Arab summit scheduled for March 28-29 in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Petra said.

They termed the summit as an important step toward activating coordination and consultation and enhancing solidarity among Arab countries, it said.

Talabani flew into Amman on Feb. 25 after doctors diagnosed him as suffering from fatigue and dehydration.
