Brammertz to Submit Report on Hariri's Killing
Adjust font size:

Serge Brammertz, the head of the commission investigating the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, would turn in his next report in next days, UN Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Friday.

Brammertz is expected to arrive in New York in the next couple of days, and to hand in his report to the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Dujarric told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York.

He added that Brammertz is also expected to brief the Security Council Wednesday on the report, which, according to the spokesman, was not yet completed.

However, the spokesman declined to specify whether the mandate for the commission will be extended.

He just noted that the secretary-general is determined to maintain cooperation with Lebanon on a number of fronts, including this one.

Brammertz's last report, which was released in March, proved progress of the investigation into the killing amid improved cooperation from Syria.
