Strong earthquake rocks Indonesia's Maluku

A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale rocked the eastern Indonesian province of Maluku on Wednesday, Indonesian meteorology and geophysics agency said.

The Agency issued a tsunami warning after the undersea quake offshore Timor-Leste.

The quake occurred at 14:32 Jakarta time and was centered near the border with Timor-Leste, about 400 km southwest of Maluku province and about 299 km northeast of Timor-Leste's capital city Dili, according to the meteorology and geophysics agency.

The US Geological Survey put the quake at 6.3 magnitude and at a depth of 164 km.

There was no immediate report of casualty or property damage.
