Studying at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) founded in 1956, is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning of TCM established in China, and it is the only one that is incorporated into the "211 Project" among the universities and colleges of TCM, with a key role in higher education directly under the supervision of the Education Ministry of China.

International students have the following options of study at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine:

Four or five-year Fundamental Programs taught in Chinese

Five-year Fundamental Programs taught in English

Seven-year programs (joint fundamental and master degree program) taught in Chinese

Long-term and Short-term Training Programs

Training Program for Chinese National Medical Qualification Examination

Preparatory and Chinese Language Program

Admission Qualification

Four or Five-year Fundamental Programs taught in Chinese

Senior high school graduates or those of the same or higher level who have passed the entrance examination in Chinese; Healthy

Five-year Fundamental Programs taught in English

No Chinese language background; Senior high school graduates or those of the same or higher level who have passed the entrance examination in Chinese; Good ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing in English; Healthy

Seven-year programs (joint fundamental and master degree program) taught in Chinese

Senior high school graduates or those of the same or higher  level who have passed the entrance examination in Chinese and comprehensive subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English; Healthy

Long-term and Short-term Training Programs

Licensed physicians of Chinese or Western medicine, acupuncturists, or senior students or graduates of medical schools; those who are interested in Chinese medicine can apply for short-term courses; Healthy

Training Program for Chinese National Medical Qualification Examination

Undergraduate students of a medical major from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Healthy

Preparatory and Chinese Language Program

Senior high school graduates or those of the same or higher level; Healthy

Application Processing

The results of the enrollment will be issued publicly by the International School 2 weeks after the entrance examination on Chinese language. The enrolled students will get Admission Notice Form and Visa Application Form (JW202) from the General Office of International School in July of each year.

Medical Insurance

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine requires that all international students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students will be asked to take out medical insurance under the help of the university staff after they register their programs.
