A super suspension bridge will be constructed in the northwest part of Hunan province, Changsha-based website rednet.cn reports.
The bridge, which crosses the mountainous Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, will be 1073.65 meters long and 330 meters high. With a main span of 1,176 meters, it will rank No.1 in Asia and No 3 in the world.
Located in the western suburb of the Prefecture's capital city Jishou, the bridge will traverse rivers and valleys. It will become part of an expressway from Jishou to Chadong, a border town which connects the provinces of Hunan, Guizhou and Sichuan.
The project, launched on October 28 last year, is expected to be completed in 2011.
