Latin American fencers without medals at the Grand Prix Villa

Cuban Yoelkis Zamora and Venezuelan Antonio Leal lost Monday the eliminative and Latin America is out of the 32-fencers table in the Grand Prix Villa in Havana, Cuba.

Zamora strongly resisted the German Sebastian Bachmann, but finaly he lost 11-15. While Leal, lost by default against the Japanese Kenta Chida.

In other results of the tournament French Terence Joubert defeated Chinese Zhan Lianglian 15-13.

Italian Andrea Baldinia won 15-10 against Italian Valerio Aspromonte, Baldini continues as a strong candidate of medals.

The Grand Prix Villa in Havana began last weekend with the women's fencer competitions, Canadian Sherriaine Shalm won the first place followed by the Romanian Ana Branza (silver) and the Germans Imke Duplitzer and Marijana Markovic (bronze).

Tuesday will take place the women's Grand Prix "Nancy Uranga" with 93 contenders.

Afterwards will take place the Fencing World Cup by teams on June 14 and 15 with 43 competitors that will fight for the crown, and with this event will finish the world-fencing meeting in Cuba.

This tournaments gives points by world ranking, which will give locations for the 29th Olympic Games of Beijing-2008 to be hold on August 8 to 24.
