Angola to start Olympic basketball qualifying campaign

Angolan women's basketball team faces Argentina on Tuesday to start its Olympic qualifying campaign in Madrid, Spain.

Angola will have bye in the first round of Group B as Argentina play Czech Republic Monday in the opening game of the Olympic qualifying tournament.

The other match on Monday will pits the host team Spain against Fiji Island in Group C at Madrid Telefonica arena.

Besides Angola, the African continent is also being represented by Senegal.

The tournament is scheduled to close on June 15, with the best five teams qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

China (host), Australia (World Champion), Mali (African champion), the United States (American champion), South Korea (Asian champion), Russia (European champion) and New Zealand (Oceania champion) have already qualified.
