Romania sets target for two Olympic rowing golds
Adjust font size:

The Romanian rowing team has set a target of two Olympic gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, coach Marlena Zagoni said in Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park on Wednesday.

"We want to win two gold medals, one for women's pair and one for women's eight. We also hope our women's double sculls can make it into the final," she told Xinhua in the boat house.

"We have three boats here for the Beijing Olympics. In last Olympic Games, we won three gold medals in rowing. This time we hope the women's eight and women's pair can win," she added.

Some of the rowers standing by said that they arrived in Beijing 10 days ago and had already got accustomed to the weather and local time.

"We are doing the same preparations as at home and everything is OK," one of them said.

So far, Romania has won 35 Olympic medals in rowing, including 18 gold medals.
