Preview: Chinese beach volleyball duos face tougher rivals in second preliminaries

Two Chinese beach volleyball duos are to compete in their respective second preliminary matches on Tuesday and tougher competitions are expected.

Men's pair Wu Penggen/Xu Linyin is to meet Estonia's Kais/Vesik, who caused big problems to the Spanish pair with Athens silver medalist Pablo Herrera, who is paired with Raul Mesa this time, in their first preliminary on Sunday.

The Estonians lost to their Spanish rivals finally with 18-21 and 21-23.

Xue Chen/Zhang Xi will play against Germany's Goller/Ludwig, who easily won over a South African pair on Sunday with two straight sets 21-12 and 21-14. The German pair was also European champions in 2008.

In another match in women's section, defending champions Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, who are more experienced and perform more solid, is expected to pocket their second preliminary win. They are to play against Cuba's Grasset/Peraza.

In men's part, the meeting between Austrians Doppler/Gartmeyer and Brazilians Araujo/Magalhaes will be fierce but the latter, ranked fourth on the Olympic qualificatoin ranking, is expected to net the second win.

The Austrian pair upset higher-seeded Barsouk/Kolodinsky of Russia on Sunday.

Brink/Dieckmann of Germany and Jake Gibb/Sean Rosenthal, ranked 6th and 7th on the Olympic qualifying list respectively, are also expected to present an exciting encounter.
