German Olympic equestrian eventing team

Germany on Tuesday won the gold medal for team eventing, the first gold for the 2008 Beijing Olympics equestrian events.

Germany was the gold medal winner of the team eventing competitions at the 2006 Aachen World Equestrian Games. The team finished 4th in the team eventing competitions of both the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2000 Sidney Games.

Germany also won the bronze medal for team eventing at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and their last Olympic team eventing gold dated back to the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Team members include:

- Hinrich Romeike on MARIUS

Romeike was born on May 26, 1963.

He ranked 243 on the FEI (International Equestrian Federation) event rider rankings. He was on Germany's gold medal squad for team eventing at the 2006 World Equestrian Games at Aachen, Germany, and finished 5th in the individual eventing competitions.

- Ingrid Klimke on ABRAXXAS

Klimke was born on April 1, 1968.

She was No. 67 on the latest FEI world event rider rankings. She was on the German squad that won team eventing gold medal at the 2006 World Equestrian Games at Aachen and finished 34th in the individual eventing competitions there.

- Andreas Dibowski on BUTTS LEON

Dibowski was born March 29, 1966.

He was No. 85 on the latest FEI event rider rankings. He finished 14th at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games' individual eventing competitions. He was also on the German team eventing squad at the Athens Games, which finished 4th to miss the medals.

- Frank Ostholt on MEDICOTT

Ostholt was born on Sept. 23, 1975.

He was No. 10 on the latest FEI event rider rankings. He was on Germany's gold medal squad for team eventing at the 2006 World Equestrian Games at Aachen, Germany, and finished 4th in the individual eventing competitions there. He finished 26th at the individual eventing competitions of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

- Peter Thomsen on THE GHOST OF HAMISH

Thomsen was born on April 4, 1961.

He was No. 76 on the latest FEI Event rider rankings. He once finished first in the individual eventing competition of the World Cup at Bonn, Germany.
