Chinese fencer Zhu Jun advanced to the top 4 by smashing world's top seed Andrea Cassara of Italy 15-14 at Olympics in Beijing on Wednesday.

It is the best result for Chinese fencers in the men's foil individual event.

Cassara led the race at 8-5, but was caught up by Zhu, at 9-9. They later knotted at 10-10, 12-12, and 14-14. Zhu, ranked 6th in the world, broke the deadlock at 15-14 in the last seconds.

China's Lei Sheng failed to enter the top 4 after losing to Benjamin Philip Kleibrink from Germany at 15-7.

Chinese sabre fencer Zhong Man made history Tuesday night by winning the first fencing gold for China 24 years after Luan Jujie snatched the first Olympic fencing gold in 1984.
