Top seed China overpowered third-ranked Republic of Korea 3-0 with not a single match dropped by the indelible trio of Ma Lin, Wang Hao and Wang Liqin.

Ma Lin started the slew of victories with a hard-fought 3-2 win over ROK's Oh Sang-eun. The following match was a callback to the Men's singles final match four years ago in Athens, but this time the tables were turned with Wang Hao defeating the defending Olympic champion Ryu Seung-min 3-1. In doubles, the pair of Wang Hao and Wang Liqin overcame the ROK duo Oh Sang-eun and Yoon Jae-young with a 3-0 victory.
