Russian high jumper Andrey Silnov won the Olympic gold medal on Tuesday evening at the Beijing Olympic Games.

The 23-year-old Russian showed very good form this evening by clearing all heights with the first attempt until 2.42 meters, which is higher than the Olympic record.

Silnov secured the gold at 2.36 meters, which frustrated all his competitors. Germaine Mason of Britain won the silver and Yaroslav Rybakov of Russia the bronze.
