DeGale wins the battle of the British Isles

Great Britain's James DeGale and Emilio Correa Bayeaux of Cuba will meet in the gold medal match of the Olympic Boxing competition's middleweight class after both boxers won their semifinal bouts.

Great Britain's James DeGale stormed into the gold medal match after thrashing Darren John Sutherland of Ireland 10-3. DeGale dominated in the third round, scoring five points to Sutherland's one.

Later tonight another pair of British and Irish boxers will fight each other in the light-heavyweight class. The boxers will be Tony Jeffries of Great Britain and Kenny Egan of Ireland.

Emilio Correa Bayeaux of Cuba won his semifinal bout against Vijender Kumar of India. The Indian boxer had the better of Correa Bayeaux in the second round, but the Cuban reasserted his authority in the third round and set up the win.

Bronze medals will be awarded to Sutherland and Kumar.
