Adjust font size:

The Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park is ready for the 2007 World Junior Rowing Championships, the first of the "Good Luck Beijing" events beginning in August.

The brand-new venue has been completed recently and some 90 percent of its surroundings have been afforested. The 20km Baima Road linking the Park with downtown Beijing has also been completed, making the site a 30-minute drive from the city.

By July, the water resource project of Wenyu River is to be inaugurated to guarantee the water supply for the park. As early as January of this year, the organizing committee for the event was formed with the secretary of Shunyi district party committee and head of the district government as chief organizers.

The committee has studied the issues related to the environment, security, publicity, volunteer recruitment and training, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies of the rowing championships. At the moment, the management team is making the final check of the preparatory work.
