Adjust font size:

Uruguay's Olympic Committee (COU) rejected to involve politics in Beijing Olympic Games and reiterated that athletes from this South American country will participate.

COU's president Julio Maglione, was quoted on Thursday by the local press, said the Chinese government guarantees full security measures to all sports delegations worldwide to enter the Asian country.

Beijing "organized everything perfectly with a high professional quality and collaboration" just like demanded by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said Maglione, representative of the IOC's Coordination Committee for the Beijing Olympics.

Maglione said the IOC "loves peace, believes in love between countries, has good relations with the United Nations."

"We collaborate and really feel peace and we are convinced sports is one of the most important bridges to promote it," said Maglione.
