Adjust font size:

The Chilean ambassador to China said on Thursday that his country would fully support the Beijing Olympics.

The ambassador, Fernando Reyes Matta, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua that Chile has watched preparations for the Games with great enthusiasm and interest.

"We believe that the Beijing Olympics will realize its theme of 'One World, One Dream' and contribute to world peace by giving all people a gathering point for mutual understanding."

According to Reyes, the bronze used to make Bronze Medals for the Games came from Chile, which could also "embody Chile's support for the Olympics."

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet Jeria will visit China from April 11 to 15. During the visit, Jeria will attend the annual Boao Forum as the first political leader from Latin America.

"The president's visit shows that relations with China and Asia have been particularly important for Chile's foreign affairs," the ambassador said.

Reyes said that China had made much progress in improving Beijing's air quality. "During a series of 'Good Luck Beijing' tests last August, traffic control of automobiles greatly improved the air quality," Reyes said.

"I am confident that Beijing will definitely provide clean air for the Olympics," said the ambassador, wishing China complete success.
