Colombia seeks to surpass expectations in Beijing Olympics
Adjust font size:

Colombia seeks to surpass all expectations in the Beijing Olympic Games, said the president of Colombia's Olympic Committee (COC), Andres Botero, on Tuesday during the presentation of Colombia's delegation.

Botero said "we can surpass the feats we accomplished in prior games," so far 58 athletes have obtained passes to participate in Beijing Olympic Games.

Colombia's best perfomance was in the Munich 1972 Olympic Games where it won three medals, one silver and two bronze.

"In Beijing, Colombia will prove it worked hard and that it advances with tenacity," said Botero.

Colombia has won nine medals in its Olympic Game history, one gold, two silver and six bronze.

Botero said everything is ready to offer athletes the best conditions for the trip.

"Beijing is a modern city, as much as New York city, just to mention one," and "it is surprising how everything there has changed," said Botero after recently visiting that city.
