Adjust font size:

Russia will send a "high-level" delegation to the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games, Russian Ambassador to China Sergey Razov told reporters on Tuesday.

Razov made the remarks during a briefing on the upcoming China visit by Russian President Dmitri Medvedev.

Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui also attended the press conference.

Razov said the Russian delegation, composed of about 470 members, will be one of the largest delegations to the Beijing Olympic Games.

He said some members of the Russian Olympic Game Committee had visited Beijing not long ago and praised Beijing's Olympic facilities as "the best they had seen."

Medvedev will pay a state visit to China from May 23 to 24, his first visit outside the Commonwealth of Independent States.
