Arab League chief expresses faith in success of Beijing Olympics
Adjust font size:

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Wednesday voiced his belief that China will host a successful Olympics in Beijing.

"Arab countries will actively participate in the Beijing Olympics and I hope this sporting event will achieve success," Moussa told reporters after a China-Arab forum meeting in Manama, the Bahraini capital on Wednesday.

He said China is an important global player and the Beijing Olympics will definitely expand its influence.

The Olympics gives everyone an equal opportunity to compete and should be kept apart from politics, he added.

Although the Olympics was not a topic of discussion in the third ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, Moussa said many Arab delegates expressed their support for the upcoming event.
