China's Olympic water polo medal hope no longer impossible

Chinese National Women's Water Polo Team has made great progress, and the Olympic gold medal dream is no longer impossible to realize, said Juan Jane Giralt, coach of the national team recently.

"I understand that Chinese people are not very familiar with water polo, and that China's water polo team was built up for not a long time. Six month ago when I came here, the team was far away from their dream of taking the gold medal in the Olympic Games, but now the team shows that they have made great progress. The Olympic gold is no longer impossible to get, and we are on the way towards it," said Giralt last weekend during an Asia-Oceania tournament of the FINA World League women's water polo in Tianjin.

Giralt believed that the problem with China now is that the members of the team are too young and in short of experience. He hoped they can think much and accumulate experience in the games before the Beijing Olympics.

Although China lost to Australia by 9-11 and 10-11 in two games, it won over Japan twice and China's second-string team in the first round. China has taken 7 scores now, and reached the next series of the FINA World League women's waterpolo campaign.
