Olympic weather news out
Adjust font size:

A newspaper that claims to be able to give readers comprehensive Olympic weather information came out yesterday in Beijing.

The Chinese/English bilingual daily, called Olympic Weather News, was launched by China Meteorological Administration.

It provides weather forecasts for the capital's eight districts.

The paper also lists competition venues, from the Bird's Nest to Fengtai softball field; main traffic routes, from the third ring road to the airport expressway; and sightseeing spots in the capital, from Black Dragon Pool Park in Miyun county to Yanxi Lake in Huairou district.

The paper provides easy-to-understand daily life indexes such as the ultraviolet ray index, morning exercise index, sun protection factor index, carwash and heat stroke indexes that are useful when planning family outings.

It also gives weather information on Olympic co-host cities, such as Shanghai and Qingdao, as well as other large domestic and international cities.

Citizens, in addition, learn from it fundamental meteorological knowledge.

This free newspaper, that has a distribution of about 80,000, is available at airports, hotels and other public places in Beijing.
