Jia Qinglin welcomes overseas Chinese to Olympic opening ceremony
Adjust font size:

China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Friday met with representatives of overseas Chinese who were in Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games slated for Friday evening.

Jia thanked overseas Chinese for their support and help during Beijing's bidding and preparations for hosting the Games.

Inviting representatives of overseas Chinese to attend the opening ceremony reflected the special care of the Chinese government and people to overseas Chinese, said Jia, adding that it was also an honor overseas Chinese were entitled to enjoy.

Jia is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
