Journalists were given the chance to ape Hollywood stars, and keep company with Olympic champions, by leaving their handprints on a hundred meter long scroll created as a giant memento of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The commemorative event was launched at the Beijing International Media Center (BIMC) on August 22.

Jointly organized by BIMC and the website Vodone.com, the one hundred meter-long canvas will collect the handprints and signatures of Olympic medal winners, Olympic volunteers, as well as the more than ten thousand journalists from all over the world who have been reporting the Beijing Olympics.

The canvas will remain on the wall until the Games close to ensure it collects as many handprints as possible. To make it colorful and lively, participants will be able to choose from five bold colors matching the colors of the Olympic rings, to leave their handprints and write messages.

The organizers hope the hundred-meter canvas will become one of the most important commemorations of the Beijing Olympics.
