Last week construction of the Peking University Gymnasium was completed. The gym will host the 2008 Olympic table tennis matches.

The gym is located inside Peking University in Beijing's northwest sector. The facility consists of a table tennis gym and an enclosed swimming pool. Set on the first floor, the table tennis gym is spacious enough to put eight table tennis tables side by side with 7,557 fixed and movable seats for the audience.

From December 12-19, the "Good Luck Beijing" ITTF Pro Grand Finals will be held in the newly built gym. Next year the preliminary and final table tennis contests for the Beijing Olympic and Para Olympic Games will be held here.

After the Olympic Games, the Peking University Gym will be transformed into a multi-functional gym equipped to house sports matches including table tennis, handball, basketball, badminton, volleyball, indoor football and gymnastics, as well as professional sports training, physical education, rallies and performances for other forms of recreation.
