The first stop in the international leg of the 130-day  global relay, Kazakhstan is due to greet the flame in a grand  ceremony in the mountains south of Almaty on Wednesday.

The first stop in the international leg of the 130-day global relay, Kazakhstan is due to greet the flame in a grand ceremony in the mountains south of Almaty on Wednesday. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is due to attend. Almaty expects to present a great relay in a variety of ways and promises plenty of highlights. Skating, skiing, and horse riding will all be featured as the torch is carried through the city. Mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov and Chinese ambassador Zhang Xiyun will be among the torchbearers.

The relay will reach Astana Square as its last destination.
