The magnanimity of Kungfu fills the air in San Francisco, the only North American city on the global torch relay route of the Beijing Olympic Games.

This man is expecting an event that is purely about sport.

61-year-old San Francisco resident said, "I think we should set sport apart from politics Olympics are for athletes. I like the martial art performance."

And this spirit is shared with other residents and the mayor of the city, where nearly one third of its immigrants have a Chinese background.

Mayor of San Francisco Gavin Newsom said, "We try to avoid politics in bearers'' selection. And we hope for a peaceful torch relay in San Francisco."

China will be well represented in the San Francisco leg of the relay. Organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in the US, over one hundred groups of US-based Chinese will participate in welcoming the Olympic flame. The chamber says the activities and preparations are in place. They will provide 30,000 flags to symbolize China, the US and the IOC. And 10,000 T-shirts featuring the Beijing Olympic Torch are ready to be handed out.
