Tuesday marks the start of the 10-day countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games. And the Olympic Flame is continuing its domestic tour, this time in Shijiazhuang, the capital of north China's Hebei Province.
As we see, the relay is currently underway. A total of 208 torchbearers will participate in the relay, covering 10.8 kilometers. Olympic shooting champion Cai Yalin is scheduled to light the cauldron. The relay in the city has been divided into two parts.
The torch relay began at the historic site of Xibaipo, the Chinese Communist Party's headquarters before it moved to Beijing in 1949. Earlier this morning, Li Meisu -- a Hebei native as well as the first Chinese Olympic medal winner in the shot put, started things off as the first runner.
The next stop for the Olympic torch relay is Qinhuangdao, a co-host city of the Games. Qinhuangdao will host football qualifying matches during the Olympics.
