Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Friday urged more efforts in preparing for next month's Beijing Paralympic Games, during an inspection tour of Games venues and Paralympic village.

"With the Games only a week away, we should try our best for the preparation, organization and security work at this final phase," Xi said.

The Beijing Games would have more participating countries and regions than any previous Paralympics, he said.

The success of Beijing Olympics provided good experience in presenting an excellent, successful and passionate Paralympics, he said.

Xi said the country's attention to the rights of handicapped people was a remarkable feature of China's human right cause.

"A successful Paralympics would further promote the development of the country's cause of the disabled," he said.
