Four WR fall in Archery ranking round

Four world records fell in a single session in the Archery ranking round at the Olympic Green Archery Field on Tuesday, September 9.

Men's Individual Compound - Open

Britain's John Stubbs who competed in the Men's Individual Compound - Open category scored an impressive 691 points, breaking the world record of 679 points which was set by Joe Bailey of the United States in June 2007.

Lee Ouk-soo of the Republic of Korea finished second in the ranking round, scoring 686 points and Britain's Fred Stevens clinched third place scoring 681 points.

Pre-competition favorite Kevin Evans of Canada failed to impress, finishing in ninth place after scoring 675 points.

Women's Individual Recurve - Standing

Pre-competition favorite Lee Hwa-sook of the the Republic of Korea lived up to her top billing and set the world record in the Women's Individual Recurve - Standing category, scoring 614 points. The previous record of 603 belonged to Wang Yanhong of China and Lindsey Carmichael of the United States.

China's Gao Fangxia finished second scoring 593 points and France's Brigitte Duboc claimed third position scoring 572 points.

Athens 2004 Paralympic Games gold medalist Wang Yanhong of China scored a modest 495 points.

Women's Individual Compound - Open

Britain's Danielle Brown of Great Britain claimed top position scoring 676 points in the Women's Individual Compound - Open. Brown broke the world record of 673 points, which she set just two months ago at a competition in Stoke Mandeville, England.

Sweden's Zandra Reppe finished second with a score of 658 points and Gulbin Su of Turkey clinched third position with a score of 650 points.

Women's Individual Recurve - W1/W2

Performing in front of her home crowd, China's Xiao Yanhong established the world record in the Women's Individual Recurve - W1/W2 category, scoring 611 points. The earlier record of 601 points belonged to the Republic of Korea's Ko Hee-sook, which she set in September 2004.

Fu Hongzhi of China finished second with a score of 600 points and Marketa Sidkova of the Czech Republic finished third after scoring an impressive 593 points.

Men's Individual Recurve - W1/W2

The Men's Individual Recurve - W1/W2 category had a few surprises in store with Ukraine's Taras Chopyk finishing first with 636 points.

The Republic of Korea's Kim Hong-kyu came from behind on the last arrow to finish second with a score of 632 points. His team-mate Lee Hong-gu claimed third position finishing with a score of 629 points.

Men's Individual Compound - W1

The Czech Republic's David Drahoninsky, who came into the event seeded eighth, put on an impressive performance in the ranking round finishing first, with a score of 665 points and setting a new Paralympic record in the process.

Pre-competition favorite Jeff Fabry of the United States finished second with a score of 661 points and Athens 2004 Paralympic Games gold medalist John Cavanagh of Great Britain finished third with 640 points.

Men's Individual Recurve - Standing

Mario Esposito of Italy claimed top position in the Men's Individual Recurve - Standing category, finishing with an impressive 631 points.

China's Chen Yegang finished second with a score of 628 points and compatriot Dong Zhi claimed third position scoring 625 points.
