Defending Paralympic champion Lyocsa crashes out
Adjust font size:

Reigning Paralympic champion Imrich Lycosa's (Slovakia) hopes of repeating his Paralympic medal winning performance at the Beijing crashed on Friday, September 12, as he bowed out, loosing to Chen Yegang of China, 98-95.

Chen dominated the champion from the start, taking advantage of Lyoca's weak first end, where he scored 23 points.

Lyocsa had a shaky start to his Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games campaign, putting on a poor performance in the Ranking Round, where he finished 10th.

But despite going home empty handed, Lyocsa says he has no regrets.

"It's not a tragedy, it's just a game. You have ups and downs," he said.

The Slovakian archer said that it was his lack of focus that cost him a medal.

"I didn't realize what happened. I had too many seven pointers," he said.

"In shooting, when you shoot badly, you have to clear your mind and forget about the bad arrows, but I was not able to do that today."
