The U.S.-based Wheelchair Foundation has decided to donate 10,000 wheelchairs each year to China in the coming 5 years, according to the foundation's president Kenneth E. Behring.

The foundation planned to deliver 1 million wheelchairs to those in the world who need but cannot afford one in the next 5 years, Behring said at a wheelchair presenting ceremony earlier this week.

Set up in 2000, the non-profit organization has donated more than 250,000 wheelchairs to the needed in 62 Chinese cities, according to Behring.
