Baatarjav Dambadondog Mongolia made history by becoming the first person from Mongolia to win a medal at the Paralympic Games, winning gold in the Men's Individual Recurve - Standing category at the Olympic Green Archery Field on Sunday, September 14.

Men's Individual Compound - W1

The Czech Republic's David Drahoninsky won the gold medal in the Men's Individual Compound - W1 category, outplaying the defending Paralympic Games champion John Cavanagh of Great Britain, 108-103.

Drahoninsky dominated from the start, hitting the bull's eye on two occasions (getting ten points each). Cavanagh crushed all opposition enroute to the final, but settled for silver after failing to put on his best performance.

Jeff Fabry of the United States won the bronze medal after beating Osmo Kinnunen of Finland, 111-101. Fabry dominated the match, winning three of the four ends.

Men's Individual Recurve - Standing

Mongolia's Dambadondog's historic gold came from victory over Fabrice Meunier of France, 94-90.

The Mongolian archer began tentatively, failing to impress in the first two ends. But he showed his class in the third and fourth end, outscoring his French opponent 50-41.

Chen Yegang of China won the bronze medal, beating top seed Mario Esposito of Italy 98-93. Chen got off to a weak start, conceding the first two ends to Esposito, but outscored Esposito 55-47 in the last two ends to secure the win.

Men's Individual Recurve- W1/W2

China's Cheng Changjie added to his country's medal tally by winning the gold medal in the Men's Individual Recurve- W1/W2. Cheng beat Marco Vitale of Italy, 108-104, in a closely fought contest.

The bronze medal match went down to the wire, with Tseng Lung-hui of Chinese Taipei finally beating Ozgur Ozen of Turkey in a shootout. Both archers were tied at 92 points each after four ends.
