Vitale outstanding throughout march to silver medal

The bronze medal match went down to the wire, with Tseng Lung-hui of Chinese Taipei finally beating Ozgur Ozen of Turkey in a shootout, after both archers were tied at 92 points after four ends.

Men's Individual Compound - Open

Top seed and world record holder John Stubbs of Great Britain lived up to his favored billing by winning the gold medal in the Men's Individual Compound - Open category.

Stubbs beat his opponent Alberto Simonelli of Italy, 116-111. Stubbs has been in sublime form at the Beijing Games, crushing all opposition enroute to the final. Simonelli took home the silver medal.

Philippe Horner of Switzerland clinched the bronze medal by out shooting his American opponent TJ Pemberton of the United States, 115-111.

Men's Team Recurve - Open

The Republic of Korea (ROK) won the gold medal in the Men's Team Recurve - Open category, outplaying China, 209-206.

Both sides began strongly but the Chinese archers failed to maintain the consistency displayed by the ROK. China will take home the silver medal.

Italy won the bronze medal, edging out Japan, 207-194, in a closely fought contest.

Women's Individual Compound - Open

Top seed and world record holder Danielle Brown of Great Britain lived up to her fame by winning the gold medal in what was a one-sided final against Japan's Kamiya Chieko, 112-98. Kamiya won the silver medal.

In the bronze medal match, Britain's Mel Clarke walked away with the bronze medal after beating her Turkish opponent Gulbin Su, 113-109.

Women's Individual Recurve - Standing

The Republic of Korea's Lee Hwa-sook claimed the gold medal after beating Gao Fangxia of China, 103-92.
