People lifted out of poverty in Hongxing Village, NW China

Huang Quanhua (C), secretary of Hongxing Village branch of the Communist Party of China (CPC), inquires on employment situation of returned villagers in a company in Hongxing Village of Hanzhong, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Jan. 12, 2018. In a fight against poverty, Hongxing Village established a collective economic cooperative in May 2017, gathering all of the 651 villagers and their lands in exchange for shares. The cooperative has been a sucess, attracting investment and introducing projects of developing agriculture products. In less than a year, the villagers have been lifted out of poverty, as they earned a total of over 2.4 million yuan (0.37 million U.S. dollars) in 2017.[Photo/Xinhua]
