A side view of the Pavilion of Ten Thousand Happinesses (Wanfuge). This northernmost structure in the temple grounds houses an 18-meter tall statue of the Maitreya Buddha carved from a single piece of white sandal wood. The statue was a gift from the seventh Dalai Lama to Emperor Qianlong and has become one of the most famous attractions of the Lama Temple. [Photo by Wang Xinning/China.org.cn]
