Lan Lan (R) and her friend Icy (Chinese teachers)

Lan Lan (R): "Living in Beijing is quite difficult. We are on the verge of leaving this city and return to hometown. To be a teacher there isn't a bad choice."

"Why didn't you find a teaching job in your hometown upon graduation?"

Lan Lan: "I was enticed by the abundance of material resources, which, as a matter of fact, we had no access to."

"Isn't teaching a decent and respectful job?"

Lan Lan: "Yes it is. But primary school children are getting more difficult; they are not as tame as we were." [Photo by Chen Boyuan / China.org.cn]
