  2009 marks the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland. The transfer of sovereignty of Macao from the Portuguese Republic to the People's Republic of China (PRC) occurred on Dec. 20, 1999. During the past decade, this magical city has witnessed tremendous developments in many aspects, including economy and culture. China.org.cn will present the past and current Macao in pictures to commemorate this important milestone.
Handover
